Britney Spears Was ‘Triggered’ by Justin Timberlake Mocking Her Apology, Wanted to Move ‘Forward’ (Exclusive)

Britney Spears is still processing Justin Timberlake's latest dig about their past ups and downs, a source exclusively tells Us Weekly.

"Britney was annoyed after his onstage statement," the insider says, referring to Timberlake, 43, mocking Spears, 42, during a February concert.

At the time, Timberlake told his New York City fans that he wanted to "take this opportunity to apologize to absolutely f–king nobody." He then proceeded to sing "Cry Me a River," which was written about his split from Spears in the early 2000s.

The apparent dig came just days after an Spears made a social media apology on January 28 for "some of the things" she wrote in her book. "If I offended any of the people I genuinely care about I am deeply sorry," she said via Instagram before praising his new single, "I am in love with Justin Timberlake's new song 'Selfish.'"

Alexa, play "Cry Me a River" by Justin Timberlake — and then, cue up "Everytime" by Britney Spears. Timberlake and Spears called it quits two decades ago, but fans are still invested in their rocky romance. The former boy bander and pop princess met in the early '90s while filming The Mickey Mouse Club. In […]

Timberlake's remark was hurtful to Spears, according to the source, who tells Us that the pop star's "turning point for her mental issues started when [Timberlake] broke up with her so many years ago."

Spears "thought they'd be together forever and have children," the insider explains. "So when he broke up with her, it shook her world," the source claims, noting "things shifted with her and she started having problems" soon after their breakup.

Spears and Timberlake "seemed [like] they were both moving forward," in recent months, "but when he made fun of her apology it triggered her," the insider says.

Timberlake's public quips about Spears have become difficult for her inner circle to hear. "Those close to her wish Justin was more of a stand-up guy and would have just moved on because what he did really hinders her recovery," the source tells Us.

When you're as iconic in the entertainment industry as Britney Spears, it's hard to keep your love life under wraps. And the pop princess has definitely had her fair share of famous boyfriends -- do the names Justin Timberlake, Fred Durst, K-Fed and Criss Angel ring a bell?

Spears and Timberlake met as kids on The All-New Mickey Mouse Club. In 1999, they began dating while at the height of both 'NSync and Spears' fame. The twosome called it quits in 2002, and reports soon claimed that Spears had been unfaithful.

Timberlake's 2002 hit "Cry Me a River" seemed to confirm rumors that Spears cheated on him. "You don't have to say what you did / I already know, I found out from him / Now there's just no chance / For you and me / There'll never be / And don't it make you sad about it?" he sings in the second verse.

A decade later, Timberlake brought his and Spears' drama back to the forefront when he told a 2013 concert crowd, "Sometimes in life, you think you found The One. But then one day you find out that she is just some bitch."

He later denied the remark was about his ex-girlfriend, writing via X, "OK. I see you. Wouldn't disrespect ANYONE personally. Ever. #Relax #ItsBritneyBitch I do love that saying though *with accent* #Respect."

Britney Spears' career and personal life have faced a series of ups and downs over the years. Spears first showed off her vocal skills on the singing competition Star Search at 10 years old in 1992. Following a stint on The Mickey Mouse Club, she signed a record deal with Jive Records in 1997 and […]

Timberlake and Spears appeared to be on better terms in 2021 when the "Sexy Back" singer publicly apologized to Spears for the times that his "actions contributed to the problem" of sexism or misogyny.

Spears reignited tension with Timberlake in October 2023 when she released her memoir, The Woman in Me, and said she had an abortion while dating Timberlake, claiming he wasn't ready to be a father. Spears also alleged that both she and Timberlake had affairs during their romance.

Two months later, Timberlake added fuel to the fire during a concert in Las Vegas when he said he meant "no disrespect" before singing "Cry Me a River." Spears reacted to the jab via Instagram, writing, "Psss … I never mentioned how I beat him in basketball 🏀 and he would cry … no disrespect 🤷🏼‍♀️🤷🏼‍♀️🤷🏼‍♀️!!!"

When Spears learned that Timberlake poked fun at her latest apology during his New York City concert last month, she had another message for him. "Someone told me someone was talking s–t about me on the streets !!!" she wrote via Instagram last month. "Do you want to bring it to the court or will you go home crying to your mom like you did last time ??? I'm not sorry !!!"

Britney Spears Is The Patron Saint Of Spring Break

Spring break isn't just an annual vacay; it's a whole state of mind. It immediately conjures up visions of beach days, road trips, day-drinking, and most importantly, a carefree, unscheduled vibe of doing whatever you feel like in the moment. If the essence of spring break could manifest into a person, she'd be your fun-loving bestie who's always up for a dance party — whether you're at a club or just chilling at home. She'd be that silly friend who always makes you laugh at the most random things. She'd be Britney Spears.

It's my deeply held belief that Britney Spears is the physical embodiment of spring break. No matter what season it is, Spears has never wavered when it comes to emanating all-rules-are-off, no-effs-given party vibes. It could be the middle of winter, but Spears' commitment to bikinis and eagerness to dance through any situation will transport you to a sunny beach party every time. Each new emoji-filled selfie embodies the fun-loving chaos that is spring break.

It's not just the pop star's attitude that makes her the Spearit of the season. Though she's mostly partying in her living room these days, Spears was once the face of the biggest vacation celebration around. Back in 1999, when MTV Spring Break was at its peak, Spears was prominently featured throughout the weekslong party coverage. It was the first sign that her music had become mandatory for any partier's spring break soundtrack.

It's impossible to imagine a beach trip with your best friends without blaring at least one of Spears' songs. Whether you're scream-singing "... Baby One More Time" with your girls in the car or learning the "Toxic" dance routine in your Airbnb while you pregame before your night out, no spring break trip is complete without Spears.

But as true fans know, Spears' most evident odes to the spring break lifestyle are actually her deeper cuts. Her "Sometimes" music video epitomizes a beachy love affair, as Spears dances on a pier and muses about her fickle tendencies around her crush. Later in her career, Spears experimented with spicier Latin pop sounds perfectly suited to blasting at beach parties, including "Ooh Ooh Baby" and "Mmm Papi."

And even though her 2002 movie Crossroads was technically set in the summer, it's become the ultimate spring break movie. After all, there's nothing as free-spirited as a road trip, so watching Spears, Zoe Saldaña, and Taryn Manning bond while crossing the country on their adventure to California is just the right vibe to inspire your own long drive with your besties.

Finally, we come to Spears' most salient contribution to spring break culture: "Everytime." When Spears' breakup ballad surprisingly played in full in the climactic scene of 2013's Spring Breakers, it took on a whole new life as the undisputed anthem of the season. Now, even if your spring break doesn't involve armed robbery in hot-pink ski masks, it's still a requirement to have an "Everytime" moment with your girls.

I guess spring Break needs you, Britney.

Britney Spears' ex-husband Sam Asghari wants to start a family

Sam Asghari wants to start a family, almost two years on from his divorce from Britney Spears.

Sam Asghari wants to start a family.

The 30-year-old actor filed for divorce from pop superstar Britney Spears, 42, in August 2023 after just over a year of marraige and is currently thought to be single but wants to become a dad at some point before he turns 40.

Asked if he would like to start a family in the next 10 years, he told Life and Style magazine: "Yes, absolutely!"

Meanwhile, the former fitness instructor was then asked for some tips on how to handle a breakup and urged others to "celebrate" the times they once had with a significant other and insisted they should never be upset about the way things panned out.

He said: "Focus on yourself, focus on others as well. Give back, celebrate the past, don't ever be sad about it."

Sam met Britney on the set of her 2016 music video 'Slumber Party' and the pair quickly got engaged following the termination of her conservatorship agreement in November 2021 - which had previously given her immediate family control over her multimillion-dollar fortune, career decisions, and various aspects of her life - in a ceremony attended by A-listers such as Madonna, Selena Gomez and Paris Hilton.

Just weeks before tying the knot, the 'Stronger' hitmaker - who was initially married to childhood friend Jason Alexander for a period of 55 hours in 2004 before going on to have sons Sean, 18, and Jayden, 17, with now-ex-husband Kevin Federline - fell pregnant but suffered a miscarriage early on.

At the time, Britney vowed that they would "continue trying to expand [their] beautiful family" but Sam filed for divorce just over a year later.

He recently told PEOPLE: "It was a blessing to be able to share life with someone for a long time. And people grow apart and people move on.

"I've always hated people leaving a certain relationship — and at some point they told each other they love each other and they sat at the same table and ate food [together] — so I never understood when people part ways [and] they talk badly about each other. That's something I'm never going to do because I had nothing but an amazing experience and a great life, and that's always going to be part of my life, a chapter of my life.

Britney Spears' ex-husband Sam Asghari speaks out on their divorce: 'People grow apart and people move on'

Britney Spears' ex-husband Sam Asghari reflected on their relationship after the former couple split following 14 months of marriage last year.

The 29-year-old actor and model and the 41-year-old pop star tied the knot June 9, 2022, after five years of dating. Asghari filed for divorce from Spears in August 2023, citing "irreconcilable differences." The former couple's date of separation was listed as July 28, 2023.

During a recent interview with People magazine, Asghari expressed his gratitude for the years they spent together.

"It was a blessing to be able to share life with someone for a long time. And people grow apart and people move on," the fitness trainer said.

"I've always hated people leaving a certain relationship — and at some point they told each other they love each other, and they sat at the same table and ate food [together] — so I never understood when people part ways [and] they talk badly about each other," Asghari told the outlet.

"That's something I'm never going to do because I had nothing but an amazing experience and a great life, and that's always going to be part of my life, a chapter of my life."

In his divorce filing, Asghari asked for spousal support and attorney's fees. After certain rumors began swirling, his rep told Fox News Digital, "There are many claims that Sam is challenging the prenup and threatening to exploit his ex-wife with videos. However, all these claims are false, as no negative intention has ever been directed towards her and never will be. Sam has always and will always support her."

Asghari filed for divorce from Spears in August 2023 after 14 months of marriage.

Asghari was the first to publicly talk about the divorce, writing in a post on his Instagram story in August 2023, "After 6 years of love and commitment to each other my wife and I have decided to end our journey together.

"We will hold onto the love and respect we have for each other. And I wish her the best always."

Without going into detail, the "Special Ops: Lioness" actor wrote, "S--- happens. Asking for privacy seems ridiculous so I will just ask for everyone including media to be kind and thoughtful."

A couple days later, Spears broke her silence on the split in a video she shared on Instagram. She posted a clip of herself dancing in skimpy clothing along with a caption in which she shared her thoughts on her separation from Asghari.

"As everyone knows, Hesam and I are no longer together … 6 years is a long time to be with someone so, I'm a little shocked but … I'm not here to explain why because its honestly nobody's business !!!," she wrote.

"But, I couldn't take the pain anymore honestly !!! In some sort of telepathic way I have been receiving so many messages that melt my heart from friends and I thank you !!! I've been playing it strong for way too long and my Instagram may seem perfect but it's far from reality and I think we all know that !!!

"I would love to show my emotions and tears on how I really feel but some reason I've always had to hide my weaknesses !!! If I wasn't my dad's strong soldier, I would be sent away to places to get fixed by doctors !!! But that's when I needed family the most !!!

"You're supposed to be loved unconditionally … not under conditions !!!! So I will be as strong as I can and do my best !!! And I'm actually doing pretty damn good !!! Anyways have a good day and don't forget to smile !!!"

The model expressed his gratitude for the time he spent with Spears.

Asghari's latest remarks on his marriage to Spears come as he prepares to celebrate his 30th birthday March 3. During his interview with People, he shared his thoughts on aging.

"I used to think people that were 30 years old were so old when I was in high school," he said. "But every person I talk to, the older they get, the more they get to enjoy life because with age comes wisdom and experiences.

"And I think experiences in life are beautiful, so that's something that I'm just super excited to just be fulfilled with."

Asghari told the outlet he is focused on maintaining a "healthy lifestyle." In December, he revealed he had lost "35–40 pounds" following his split from Spears, according to a report from Page Six.

"I always have the most positive mindset about life. My experiences in life have shaped me into the man I am today. I will continue growing. I come from a place where we celebrate our past," Asghari told People.

"I look back fondly. My past was a blessing and beautiful."

Fox News Digital's Emily Trainham contributed to this report.

Mother accused of murdering her three-year-old son sacks her legal team a day after finishing giving evidence

  • Christina Robinson dispensed her solicitors and barristers on Friday
  • A mother accused of murdering her three-year-old son has sacked her legal team the day after finishing giving evidence.

Christina Robinson is standing trial at Newcastle Crown Court accused of burning, caning and killing her son, Dwelaniyah, at their home in County Durham. She denies murder and child cruelty.

Robinson gave evidence on Wednesday and Thursday denying shaking the youngster to death or deliberately burning him by putting him in scalding water.

The case was due to move onto the next stage on Friday but did not do so after she decided to dispense with the services of her barristers and solicitors.

Trial judge Mr Justice Garnham, who allowed Robinson to sit where her barrister had been sitting, along with a dock officer, told the jury: 'There's been a development which has delayed us which I need to tell you about.

'Ms Robinson has decided to dispense with the services of her barristers and solicitors. She's entitled to do that.

Christina Robinson is charged with burning and killing her three-year-old son Dwelaniyah at their home in County Durham

The murder accused mother has now sacked her legal team just one day after giving evidence

'Nobody is required to have a legal team representing them or have a particular legal team representing them. She decided to sack, effectively, her solicitors and barristers.

'The question arises about how we proceed without them being here. We've decided she should have the rest of the day to consider her position and consult with other people if she wishes before we go to the next stage of the case. It means we can do nothing further today.'

Robinson, 30, is accused of killing Dwelaniyah at the family home at Bracken Court, Ushaw Moor, Durham, in November 2022.

The defendant, who is a follower of the Black Hebrew Israelites religion, told the jury that prior to his death, she hit him with a bamboo g arden cane as a 'correction' for playing with his food.

Pictured: Forensics at the scene where Dwelaniyah was found 'covered in minor injuries'

She explained she was following a YouTube video about the religion which talked about the Bible encouraging the use of the rod for discipline.

But she has denied violently shaking him, causing a fatal brain injury, claiming he collapsed while eating.

She is also accused of deliberately scalding the little boy's legs and buttocks in extremely hot water as a punishment for soiling himself, around three weeks before his death.

Robinson, originally from Tamworth, Staffordshire, has told jurors that the boy was accidentally burned while she washed him in the shower.

    The trial continues.

Britney Spears starts fasting, calls it 'spiritual dimension'

Britney Spears is trying a hand at fasting as a means of reaching "higher level of prayer."

Sharing some starting pointers for beginners on Instagram, she wrote, "I have started intermittent fasting this week! It can make you feel weak for a few days, but then you get a natural high from all the toxins being release."

Identifying the process as a spiritual journey, the singer then went on to describe how her own experience has been so far.

She expressed, "I actually feel a little too tiny and weak to even think about shooting for Instagram right now! But honestly, I like this spiritual dimension I'm on… I think we all have our level of prayer."

"I think I've experienced pretty low levels, but also the highest levels as well! It's purification in its upmost way and to go into your body and mind to find your most enlightened state of consciousness seems so rad," the vocalist explained.

To demonstrate how dedicated she is to this practice, Britney even plugged a helpful book from her personal library.

"I've been reading to stay inspired... have a good weekend, my friends," she concluded.

The book in question is Stephen Harrod Buhner's Transformational Power of Fasting, which holds a 4.21 rating on Goodreads.

Being often snapped carrying books now and then, the celebrity is known for her old habit of reading.

Maya Jama updates an iconic Britney Spears look with head-to-toe denim 'fit

Marilyn Monroe's white halterneck flared skirt midi, Audrey Hepburn's Breakfast at Tiffany's LBD and matching opera gloves, Jennifer Lopez's plunging palm-print Versace design, Carrie Bradshaw's newspaper dress... all iconic looks that rightfully belong in the fashion hall of fame, IMO. And add to that Britney Spears' strapless patchwork denim gown worn on the 2001 AMAs red carpet.

In the 23 years since she first wore the denim dress, some of our favourite celebrities including Leigh-Anne Pinnock, Dua Lipa, Khloé Kardashian, Ashley Graham and Anne Hathaway have all recreated the 'fit in Y2K inspired ensembles. And Maya Jama is the latest A-Lister to step out swathed in head-to-toe jean fabric.

Having partnered with Gordon's Gin on the launch of a new bottle for the drinks brand's premium pink flavour, Maya attended an event in London last night to reveal the design wearing a typically trend-led outfit that immediately made us think of *that* Britney look.

    Check it out for yourself:

    Dave Benett - Getty Images

Maya's 'fit for the occasion was an Acne Studios mini dress printed to look deceptively like denim, complete with distressing and a wrap skirt. The lace-up detailing is also an illusion but playfully ends with real ties at the cuffs. The Love Island presenter (who recently reunited with boyfriend Stormzy) styled the dress with lace-up heeled boots in a two-tone washed denim fabric.

As for her beauty look, she wore her hair in a sleek updo with a side-swept piecey fringe. She kept her makeup mostly neutral with a statement black cat-eye liner flick and nude matte lip.

And this isn't the first time Maya has looked to Britney's AMAs 'fit for fashion inspo. She previously attended a dinner for footwear designer Amina Muaddi in a strapless shredded denim maxi dress that was packed full of noughties nostalgia.

Yep, Maya and Britney are two Y2K style queens.
